the building blocks of transformation

Lost in Lakewood.

If you ever get a chance to come over to my house, chances are fifty-fifty you'll get completely lost. The roads wind all over. Many streets have similar names. In the tall trees it's hard to keep your sense of direction. Just a couple months ago Sandy and I hosted a Superbowl party and chili cook-off at our house for some key small group leaders in our church (Champions Centre with Pastor Kevin Gerald, I love my church!), and sure enough, I got several calls. "Hey Erik, I'm trying to get to your place. Can you help me?"

The first question I ask my friend is, "Where are you now?" The only way I can help is if I answer this question. They've got to find a road sign, a landmark, or something. Then, once I've figured out where they are, I offer directions. "Okay, you've got to turn right at the next stop sign," I say. "Then take the first left. Follow the road up about a mile and a half, and turn right when you see my mailbox number. Got it?" I usually stay with them on the phone to confirm they're on the right road.

What is true of getting to my house is also true of getting somewhere in the Christian life. The first question we must ask ourselves is, "Where are we now?" One main reason we created Project 28's assessment platform is to help Christians get a sense of their starting and ending points - must-haves for travelers looking to "be transformed by the renewing of [their] minds." Without these starting and ending points, we're lost. We can't get directions, and we can't receive directions from anyone else.

So, where are you now in the Christian life? Do you know where you are? Do you know where you are going? One great way to find out is to take the Project 28 Assessment. It's free, and it's guaranteed to help you in the journey from where you are to where you want to be.
